Quick answer
One hook, one slide per point or step, a summary slide for lists and tutorials, and one slide that asks for something. A “7 mistakes” carousel is 1 + 7 + 1 + 1 = 10 slides. A story with three beats is 1 + 3 + 1 = 5.
Instagram takes up to 20 slides in the app. Scheduling tools that publish through Meta's API still stop at 10, so the planner warns you past 10 and stops you past 20.
